Dear students,

we are happy to announce that the library opens the study rooms on Monday 3rd May. Finally you can visit us and study in the library again!
The library is open for only MU employees and students with no Covid-19 symptoms.
We really appreciate that you come to the library only with a negative test result for COVID-19, even though it is not mandatory according to the current government regulations. Thank you.

News update

→ The study rooms are open again during the opening hours except the computer study room
→ Copiers and scanners can be used, and some PCs are available too, but it is still highly recommended to bring your laptop
→ E-resources - take advantage of a vast number of e-books and e-journals available at MU 
→ Take advantage of available tools Grammarly and Writefull

→ Group study rooms can be used for individual studying only except the big study room that can be used for 2 people

→ The catalogue is available online, it enables searching for the literature in the collections of all MU libraries 
→ After log-in the user account is available and it is possible to place requests on books, renew books, etc

→ Online access to more than 13.000 scanned books from MU libraries. The files are for reading online only, downloading is not possible
E-loans are accessible through the library catalogue 
→ If the book you need is not available in E-loans, contact us by e-mail. We will add the book into E-loans system as soon as possible

→ MU has access to a vast number of databases of e-books, e-journals 
→ Information on the databases, searching service Discovery MUNI, trials, and more can be found here 

  

→ Do you write scholarly texts in English and need to check the grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style?
→ Would you like to get feedback on English texts while writing in MS Word?

How to order and borrow books?

→ the library, including the study rooms, is open for MU students and employees with no COVID-19 symptoms

→ use hand disinfectant when entering the library, wear a face mask, keep a safe distance of 2m
→ please keep all the hygiene habits of the last months
→ thank you that only MU employee and students with no COVID-19 symptoms enter the library
→ we really appreciate that you come to the library only with a negative test result for COVID-19, even though it is not mandatory according to the current government regulations, thank you

→ library, study rooms, and group study rooms are available during the opening hours
→ PC study room is closed
→ copiers and scanners are available
→ only a limited number of PCs can be used, it is still highly recommended to bring your own laptop
→ it is possible to book group study rooms but for individual study only, and the big study room can be booked for 2 people

→ locate the books from the free access collection on the shelves and bring them to the circulation desk
→ you can still pre-order the books you wish to check-out in the catalogue, log-in by your university number and the primary password, and “place a hold” on books
→ books from the closed stacks have to be always pre-ordered
→ wait for the email confirming that the books are prepared for you
→ you can pick up requested books during the opening hours within 7 days after receiving the email
→ if you are not registered in the library, use the online registration

→ it is possible to check-out books that are for on-site loan only (books with red circle label) for a short time
→ during the week you can borrow up to 3 books, you have to return them the next day
→ on Thursday you can borrow up to 5 books and return them on Monday
→ these books can not be ordered through the catalogue, you can collect them in free access collection and bring them to the circulation desk or pre-order them by e-mail library@fss.muni.cz 

→ return the books into the drop-in boxes – one is right in the lobby of the building next to the reception desk, the other one is just in front of the entrance to the library (the building is open Mon-Sat till 8 p.m.)
→ it is also possible to return books at the circulation desk during the opening hours
→ books can be returned also by mail
