Circulation and Information desks

In this first room of the library you can register, check out and return books at the circulation desk. For checking out items it is also possible to use the self-chek Karel which is located near the circulation desk. There is also the drop-in box Helmut in front of the entrance which can be used after 5p.m. for returning books.

The staff at the information desk will answer your questions or help you with finding the books, setting laptops etc.  

There are also 3 computers for searching the catalogue.

Blue Study Room

There are 16 study places in the Journal reading room.

Free Access Collection: the volumes of journals published since 2013 (including 2013). Journals are divided into two groups: Czech & Slovak journals and foreign ones. Inside each group journals are arranged in alphabethical order. There are also Czech newspapers (Brněnský deník, Mladá Fronta dnes, Lidové noviny, Právo a Hospodářské noviny) and Czech weeklies.

There are no computers in this studyroom. It is possible to use laptops here, the study room is covered by Wi-Fi network. There are 7 electrical sockets there.

There is also the MobilBox there - red telephone box where you can use your mobile phones without disturbing others.

                                                

Orange Study Room

Orange Study Room is equiped with 12 computers, 6 of them are for searching the catalogue only, 6 PCs with access to the Internet (1 PC is for disabled users) .

There is also 1 self-service photocopier Ricoh that can be used also for printing and scanning. To download the scanned files go to: http://skener4.fss.muni.cz

Free Access Collection: the books with call numbers A1 - F2 are located in the Orange Study Room.

                   

Green Study Room

The second largest study room is Green Study Room. There are 44 study places, 7 PCs with access to the Internet . The study room is covered by WiFi network. It is possible also use the wired network connection to the Internet. There are 16 network jacks (the places by the wall) and 40 electrical sockets. There are 3 photocopiers for self-service photocopying, printing and scanning:

Red Study Room

The dominanting feature of this study room is the unique crane (protected technical landmark). The Red Study Room has three parts: the main part, the "chill zone" and the upper gallery.

The main part
There are 64 study places in the main part of the study room. No computers are available here. Laptops can be used here. The study room is covered by WiFi and also there are 10 internet network jacks for wired connection. In this area there are 56 electrical sockets.

Free Access Collection: the books with call numbers G1 - K1 are located in the Red Study Room.

The chill zone
The former group study room was turned into an area for relaxation. There are 2 tables with comfortable armchairs and also 4 sitting bags are available there. 

The upper gallery
The last part of the Red Study Room is the upper gallery. It is the quietest place in the library. There are 14 study places and 24 electrical sockets. It´s possible to use laptops there - connect to the Internet via WiFi.

 

                             

 

Yellow Study Room

In the Yellow Study Room there are 22 study places. You can find 6 computers with access to the Internet there. The study room is covered by WiFi network. There are 22 electrical sockets.

Free Access Collection: the books with call numbers L1 - P3 and studentsʼ diploma theses are located there, the language dictionaries are in section O1.

                  

Computer Study Room

There are 18 computers with access to the Internet there. The computers are available for all students or employee of Masaryk University, to log-in use your personal university number (UCO) and the secondary password.

There is also 1 self-service colour photocopier Ricoh that can be used also for printing and scanning ( http://skener.fss.muni.cz ).

Free Access Collection: the books with call numbers T1 are located in the Computer Study Room.

Information lessons for library users take place in this study room.

         

Brown Study Room

The Brown Study Room is located in the basement. This place is furnished with a sofa, some tables and armchairs and also there are 3 sitting bags there.

Multimedia and Group Study Rooms

We´re offering three group study rooms for library users and students. In bigger one there are 13 study places, projector a TV set, video, xPlay etc. In two smaller ones you can find 3-5 places.

 

The group study rooms are available for everybody, but you can book the bigger on in advance by sending mail to seminarkafss@gmail.com. Don´t forget to write down a date and hour, your UČO and number of participants.

                     

Reading Room U3A

This reading room is available for students studying at the University of the Third Age (U3A). The capacity of the room is 10 people.
